Ruterana who would be representing Rwanda in the professional category will instead be finalizing on his preparations for the Sunshine Tour scheduled for mid February.
The event which officially marks 100 years of UGC and will also see golfers from Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi and Zambia joining their Ugandan counterparts in the grand celebration.
Ruterana told Times Sport on Monday that he won’t be available for the UGC tournament because he will be heading to South Africa early next month to acclimatize with weather down-south as well as the high standard course, which he will be playing on for the first time.
"I would want to take part in the UGC tournament but this will not be possible because I’m planning to head to South Africa between February 5 and 7 before the competition (Sunshine Tour)," Ruterana said.
Ruterana has been confirmed for the one of the best professional golf tours in the world after his official sponsors BCR (Rwanda Commercial Bank) paid up the mandatory membership fee worth $650(about Frw361.400).
Uganda Golf Club (UGC) has lined up six tournaments for its centennial celebrations week.
The centennial tournament will be preceded by juniors, seniors, professionals and corporate tournaments.
