A three-day media workshop on corruption concluded, yesterday, at Alpha Palace Hotel in Kigali, with participants putting in place a journalists’ committee that will spearhead the media’s role in the fight against corruption in the country. The committee will work closely with the Ombudsman’s Office.

Assumani Niyonambaza, the chief editor of Rugari newspaper was elected to head the committee. Participants said they had acquired important skills from the workshop and pledged to tackle the vice.

Closing the workshop, Cabinet Affairs Minister and Acting Information Minister, Protais Musoni called on journalists to always expose corruption and injustices, and to be characterized by integrity in their work.

"Corruption and injustice hinder development in any society, so let us work together as a whole nation to combat these vices,” he said.
