The Kigali French School, also known as Ecole Antoine de Saint-Exupery (EFASE), has reopened after Four years.
The school was closed in 2006 following the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Rwanda and France after a French judge; Jean-Louis Bruguiere, issued arrest warrants against nine senior government officials.

The school opened its doors this week with over 200 students spread out from nursery up to secondary. It has the capacity to accommodate 400 students.

In an interview with The New Times yesterday, the Headmaster of the School, Jean Nepomuscene Rushayigi, said that parents who have children at the school are glad the school re-opened.

"Unlike other schools, this one will be teaching in both French and English which will give the students the ability to learn both languages. This is an added advantage, and the parents like it.”

According to Rushayigi, 80 percent of the pupils in the school are Rwandan nationals and he hopes that the recent renewal of relations between both countries will have a positive impact on his school’s development.

The school operates on a French education curriculum and their school year begins in September and ends in July. A-level exams are administered from Nairobi in Kenya and Addis-Ababa in Ethiopia.
