AFTER winning this year’s national inter-schools’ rugby tournament, Apred Ndera will now represent Rwanda in the Independence schools rugby tourney, slated for October 9-10 in Uganda.
Ndera defeated Remera Rukoma 15-10 to win the final of the one-day tournament that was sponsored by Inyange Industries.
Andaccording to the Technical Director of the Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF), Gerald Nsenga the Gasabo district based school will ably represent Rwanda in the two-day tourney that will attract teams from Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya and hosts Uganda.
"They (Ndera) played well over the weekend. I saw a lot of pace and power in that team and I’m convinced they will not disappoint in the tournament,” said Nsenga.
After getting past the round-robin phase, Apred Ndera thrashed Ecole Technique de Mukingi 26-7 to set up a final clash with Groupe Scolaire Remera Rukomo who had edged ousted Lycee de Ruhango 6-5 in the other semi-final.
Pool A had Groupe Scolaire Shyongwe, Lycee de Ruhango, Apec Remera Rukumo and Apred Ndera while Groupe Scolaire Remera Rukomo, Ecole Technique de Mukingi, ETO Gitarama and Iburinga Secondary School made up Pool B.
