With a booming construction industry in Rwanda, Roofings Uganda, a steel manufacturing company, is cashing in on the high consumer base in Rwanda.

With the growing market, Roofings Uganda plans to open a regional distribution centre in Kigali, this will also serve the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and Tanzania.

It is hopped that when the company opens in Kigali, transport costs incurred by steel product dealers, agents and construction companies will reduce.  The company exported more than a quarter of its steel products to Rwanda.

However, Stewart Mwesigwa, business development manager at Roofings Uganda, said sometimes the movement of goods on road is slowed by the poor road infrastructure in the region.
