I know a few things that get better with time, one is Wine and another is a messenger bag! Over the course of the last few years, messenger bags have taken over, and not just with young people but adults too.

The term "messenger bag” refers to bags that are styled after the ones messengers carry. They usually feature a shoulder strap so the bag can be worn across your body with the bag hanging down at your side or slung onto your back.

These bags (also called courier bag or carryalls) are usually rectangular in shape and ‘roomy’ enough to hold a lot of stuff, they ensure comfort to people carrying compact or bulky items, while allowing easy access to the contents.

The closure of a messenger bag normally comes in the form of a large front flap that either closes with buckles or adjustable leather straps.

There are as many different materials for messenger-style bags as there are items to put in them. Some are made from waterproof material such as nylon, while others are made from cotton canvas.

In Kigali, messenger bag are available in all colours, fabrics, sizes, in  most shops that deal in clothes. The price depends on the style, material and size but  range between  Rwf 15.000 and 20.000.

You can also visit the second hand clothes market at Nyabugogo, where a second hand messenger bag costs around Rwf5000 to 7000.

Messenger bags define "trendy” by being nearly an anti-fashion statement. They look casual and stylish all at once - and like good wine they can actually become even cooler the older and more beat up they become.
