WITH Rwanda facing a must-win situation against Benin on October 9, Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh is keeping his cards close to his chest on his team selection for next month’s tie.

Rwanda, drawn in Group H, got their qualification campaign off to a wobbly start following their 3-0 defeat in Abidjan against African giants Ivory Coast early this month and desperately need a good result against Benin’s squirrels.
Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, the Ghanaian refused to reveal his plans for Benin, insisting it was still too early to comment.

"We have only trained for two days so I cannot tell you if I will change the team for the Benin match,” Tetteh told this reporter.

"I intend to travel to Europe next week to look at some professional players that we may call up for the Benin match but I will not tell you the players that I will be monitoring.”

Tetteh came under some criticism from some sections of Amavubi fans for not calling up professional players like former Amavubi captains Patrick Mafisango, Olivier Karekezi, and Hamid Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti among others.
Ivory Coast top the group with three points, Burundi and Benin are second with a point each while Amavubi languish at the bottom with zero points.

Rwanda is seeking a second appearance at Africa’s premier football tournament following their debut in 2004 in Tunisia.
To qualify for the tournament which will be jointly hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, Rwanda needs to top the group or at least finish among the three best qualifiers.

Tetteh is a former Ghana Satellites tactician, who made history by leading his home country to become the first African team to win the Fifa U-20 World Cup last year.
