The mismanagement of funds meant for orphans, in fact was an offence whose consequences in one way or another affect lives of these vulnerable people.
Now that the Supreme Court has ordered an audit to establish the truth, if it’s discovered that the funds were mismanaged, let the judiciary bite the Italia Solidale members harder, as they are supposed to be exemplary in showing compassion to the vulnerable.
It is a shame to hear that the Italia Solidale-intended beneficiaries are now accusing those in charge of the church-affiliated NGO of allegedly using orphans as a means of raising billions of francs for their own enrichment.
Orphans should not be tools to be used by self-centred people in securing funds or any other donor support to facilitate their needs.
Let the Supreme Court action be an eye opener for such people to realise what it requires to be a guardian of orphans.
