Divorce cases these days are on the rise because of Infidelity or extramarital affairs, basically, when it comes to infidelity, it is probably the most well known fact that spouses cheat because of problems in their relationship - something is missing, passion has faded, partners feel lonely, people find someone who treats them better or who appreciates them more than their current spouse, and so on.

Simply stated, people claim that they are not happy in their relationship so they look for love and affection elsewhere.

To those who have ever watched the movie, Unfaithful, it does a great job of portraying how infidelity occurs. In this movie, Diane Lane’s character plays a happy housewife, who cheats on her husband, because of a chance encounter with an attractive stranger.

Her emotions, in particular, her sexual desire, get the best of her resulting in decisions which even she finds appalling.
Infidelity usually occurs, not because it is planned, but because people find themselves in situations where their emotions overwhelm them when he or she gets attracted to a stranger.

According to Agatha Uwamahoro 30years old, a receptionist at Digitecs studios, if your partner is mistreating you, then your first instinct is to get away from him or her. But sometimes it’s not that simple especially if you are raising kids together.

"If you feel trapped in a bad relationship, it’s only natural that you will run to the open arms of a person who treats you well,” she said.

She added that when your spouse has cheated on you the only solution to make him or her get hurt is by revenging on that person and this is quite simple by cheating on them if they cheat on you.

If they continuously hurt you or abuse you in some way, you do it to get back at them.

"If any girl ever cheated on me, I would break up with her immediately because forgiving a cheater is putting up with it, and starts a vicious cycle in that a person who cheated may lose respect for you and might continue to cheat,” Jean Pierre Kalinda 36 an entrepreneur, stresses

"I wouldn’t mind cheating on my wife if she is so faithful to me yet she plays hide and seek games definitely the only option for me is to find consolation in other ladies,” he explains.

Stella Bagwaneza 23years old, a waitress at Jungle tree bar and restaurant reveals that she once caught her boyfriend cheating on her because she had neglected to pay him a visit.

Therefore dating couples who fail to get time for each other end up cheating on themselves.

According to Belinda Uwera, 21year old, a supermarket attendant at Gift Supermarket said that some couples cheat because they want to enjoy the thrill of cheating, running around secretly, risking getting caught, and creating exciting moments with a forbidden romance.

Gilbert Kaneza, 45year old, special hire taxi driver says that people with strong sexual drives to cheat on their partners, for instance sexual desire varies from person to person; some people have a very high sex drive while other people are much less concerned or interested in sex.

And people with a high, rather than low, sex drive are more likely to cheat.

All in all, couples who cheat are immature and incapable of being realistic and honest with themselves and other people. Cheaters don’t realize how much it hurts the other person to be cheated on or lied to.
