Jean-Paul Murara, a renowned Applied Mathematics lecturer at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) has confirmed reports about his long-awaited debut album launch.

The album titled ‘Nzaririmba’ (I will sing) which contains 12 songs is slatted for launch on December 5, 2010 at Petit Stade, Remera. 

The rhythms on Murara’s album are from Rwandan culture and they are very beautiful to dance and listen to. The tracks have earned massive airtime on both local radio stations and on RTV.

Speaking to journalists, Murara promised his fans the best live concert ever. "Preparations for the concert are on and, I want to give my Rwandan fans the best live performance,” Murara said.

He added that most of the tracks on his album, including ‘Nzaririmba’ and ‘Ubuhamya’ (testimony) are inspired by his story.

"I appeal to all Rwandans to respect, love and praise God; He has saved us from a lot of things,” he added.

Murara pursued his masters at Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland.

Early Life

Born in the Southern Province, Murara hails from a staunchly catholic background. He is an artist, guitarist, composer and singer. 

Murara started playing music when he was a young kid and was mainly inspired by his father, who used to buy for him and his siblings musical instruments, like Xylophone, flute and harmonica as toys.

He developed his talent after joining Secondary school: Petit Seminaire de Butare-Karubanda. While at the National University of Rwanda, Murara joined the university’s popular band called Salus Populi. In 2001, Murara quit the band for a solo career, focusing on the gospel music.

Murara hit the music scene in the fall of 2001 after the release of his first solo track ‘Ubuhamya.’
