THIS year, Rwanda’s automobile club (RAC) is set to spice up the ‘Gakwaya memorial’ rally with a motocross competition. The rally, which counts as the third round on the national rally calendar, is slated for September 25-26 in the Southern Province and rally organiser Christian Gakwaya expects a thrilling experience for motorsport and motocross fans.
THIS year, Rwanda’s automobile club (RAC) is set to spice up the ‘Gakwaya memorial’ rally with a motocross competition.
The rally, which counts as the third round on the national rally calendar, is slated for September 25-26 in the Southern Province and rally organiser Christian Gakwaya expects a thrilling experience for motorsport and motocross fans.
"This year, we have decided to mix it up a little bit just to make it more enticing for the fans,” he said. The Motocross competition will cover 108km.
Till date, Burundi’s Valery Bukera is the only foreign driver to confirm participation in the two-day event which will cover 273.39km in the competitive section.
The local surge is spearheaded by two-time national champion Davite Giancarlo, Fitidis Christakis, Mitraros Elefter, Gratien Rutabingwa, Olivier Costa, Claude Kwizera and Feleken Mayaka among others.
The Huye rally comes after the Bugesera sprint rally and KCB Mountain Gorilla.
