Rwanda vs Benin
Burundi vs Ivory Coast
MBUYU Twite has been included in Sellas Tetteh’s Amavubi squad after recovering from a career-threatening injury. The APR center-back, who can also play in midfield, is one of five new players who have been drafted into the 26-man provisional squad ahead of next month’s must win 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Benin.
The others are Rayon Sport’s Abuba Sibomana, Hussein Sibomana of Kiyovu and the Police duo of Clement Mukunzi and Aphrodis Mungwarareba.
The team, which has camped at La Palisse Hotel, Nyandungu starts intensive training today at Ferwafa.
Tetteh has drafted in Mukunzi, Gasana, Mungwarareba and Sibomana to try and beef up his weak defense and midfield.
England-based stars Yaya Toure, Salomon Kalou and Emmanuel Eboue were all on target as the Elephants of Ivory Coast broke Rwanda’s defense to post a convincing 3-0 win two weeks ago.
Amavubi recovered well after the break but still failed to find the net at the fully packed Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
As Rwanda take on Benin, Ivory Coast, who won the Nations Cup in 1992, will look to make it two wins on the trot when they play Burundi in Bujumbura.
Ivory Coast top Group H with three points, Burundi and Benin are tied in second place with a point following their 1-all draw in Porto-Novo while Rwanda is bottom with zero points.
Rwanda’s only CAN appearance came back in 2004 under Rotamir Djukovic.
