ERNEST Wilhelmus Johannes Brandts is in talks with APR over a possible deal to coach the military side next season.
It has emerged that there is mutual interest between Brandts and the military side although no offers have been discussed.
APR has been on the hunt for a permanent coach for a couple weeks ever since Erik Paske turned down a new offer.
"I think APR is a massive club with great history and a great following and those opportunities would of course be of interest,” Brandt told Times Sport.
Brandts jetted in last week in company of former APR coach Rene Feller to finalise talks with the military side.
Feller, 68, coached APR during the 2007-2008 season, guiding the side to the MTN Peace Cup. His contract was however not renewed prompting his former assistant Erik Paske to take over the reigns.
Paske had a fairly good spell after guiding the club to two league titles, the Cecafa Kagame Cup as well as MTN Peace Cup. The Dutchman however turned down a new offer preferring to stay in his native country-Holland for family reasons.
Brandts is a former Netherlands International who won 28 caps for the Orange side scoring five goals.
He featured for PSV Eindhoven, Roda JC Kerkrade, MVV Maastricht and De Graafschap.
Brandts featured for Holland at the 1978 FIFA World Cup.
As coach, he has managed PSV Eindhoven (1993-2002), RKSV Nuenen (2002–2004), FC Volendam (2005–2006) and NAC Breda (2006–2008).
In 2009, he was appointed coach of Rah Ahan but was sacked towards the end of the year following the club’s inconsistent run.
