Vision Youth Group, one of Rwanda’s football academies proved that they have finally come of age after defeating the acclaimed National football Academy 1-0 at Ferwafa artificial turf on Saturday afternoon.
The closely contested tie was decided by Vision striker Pappy Nsengimana in the second half that left Ferwafa Academy, which represented Rwanda in the Cecafa Youth Cup tourney in Eritrea recently stunned.
Vision coach Kassim Rugamba praised his youngsters for making a mark with a much deserved win.
"This team is getting to the level that we want it to be. This victory is testament of their progression,” Rugamba said.
"We are thinking of sending some of our players to the Chelsea Academy to improve on their raw talent.”
Vision Youth Group is set to host an U-16 Boys football tournament under the arrangement of Vision Sports. Teams from Kigali city and Kampala will take part in the one week tournament slated for October in Kigali.
Teams expected to take part include Proline Academy (Uganda), Amavubi Academy, APR Academy, Kiyovu Academy, Imena FC Academy and hosts Vision Sports Academy.
