The Ghanaian, who witnessed helplessly as his Wasps were conquered by a star-studded Ivory Coast side last Saturday (3-0), was over the weekend voted coach of the year by Ghana’s Sports Writers Association (SWAG).
The MTN sponsored awards, which are held annually in recognition of Ghana’s outstanding sports personalities were held at the famous Banquet Hall.
Tetteh scooped the coach of the year award while Ghana’s 2009 U-20 World Cup winning team claimed the ‘team of the year’ accolade.
The colourful event also saw 2009 U-20 World Cup player of the tournament Dominic Adiyiah voted as Ghana’s Sports Personality of the year. Adiyiah beat Fulham’s defender John Pantsil and Chelsea’s midfielder Michael Essien to the prestigious award.
Other personalities who won honours include Kwesi Nyantakyi (Chairman of the Year), Eric Addo (Dedication and Valour), Joseph Lamptey (Referee of the Year), Emmanuel Quartey (Promising Star), Benedict Sam, Pamela Condobrey (Hockey), Derek Abrefa, Cynthia Kwabi (Table Tennis), Charles Adamu (Pro Boxer), Michael Akonor (Scrabble) and Daniel Sam, Linda Hammond Osei (Badminton).
Ghana won the U-20 World Cup after beating Brazil on penalties.
