I really don’t care if this sounds harsh or judgmental but the fact is that anyone who abandons a child, more so their own, does not deserve to have it back. Your rights as a parent went out the door the day you left.

Abandoning a child has got to be the most selfish thing a person can do. Why bring a child into the world only to abandon it? It doesn’t make sense. Some people think life is a joke and are not in the least bothered about how they use it.
I don’t even know how people can live with themselves knowing they just got up without so much as a kiss to the baby’s cheek and ran out without looking back – now knowing whether it has been left to walk the streets alone, begging, or with some distant relative who just doesn’t care.
Abandoning a child is unforgivable!
Everybody knows children are a gift from God. Given the circumstances under which they are conceived, they are and will always be a gift. All sorts of excuses come up in such situations; some claim they are financially unstable; others blame their children for their problems. At the worst, some simply do not care and get on with their lives.
It is very sad when your own mother or father abandons you, but must you do that to your own children? Why stoop to such a level? Be the parent that you wish yours had been, and the parent that you know you can be.
It takes guts to dump one’s child and then years later, come back waltzing when the difficult stages of raising the child have passed. It also takes guts to imagine that one can proclaim one’s undying love to a child that one has abandoned.
Should the child forgive you, he or she would have a heart of gold; however, should the child be filled with rage, one should not blame them.
"Treat others as you would want them to treat you,” is a saying that makes a lot of sense. For crying out loud, it is your own flesh and blood. Since you made it, deal with it. Do not leave a second party to struggle with a child that they did not bring into this world.
If you intend to abandon a child, make sure you have no plans of returning unless it’s the child who comes looking for you. I say this because your return will most likely cause some upheaval, and it would not be fair to the child or the parent who’s been raising it singlehandedly.
Even when situations seem hopeless, potential runaway parents should ask for the Lord’s guidance and strength because there is always a way out. Don’t just walk away, turning your back on a situation, not caring whether your child lives or dies.
At least do it the decent way and give the child up for adoption, ensuring that it is safe and shall have the lovely family that it deserves.
