IN a bid to give Amavubi Stars ample time to prepare for their must win 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Benin, Rwanda’s football governing body, Ferwafa has been forced to delay the 2010-2011 Primus league kick-off.

According to the commissioner in charge of competitions, Boniface Nsabimana, the league will now kick-off on October 16, a week after the Benin game.
Initially, the league was expected to start on September 29.

"The changes that have been made are in the best interests of the country. We want the national team to have enough time to prepare for their crucial Afcon qualifier against Benin,” said Nsabimana.
"It is a very important game and the team needs to be at their best.”

The team will regroup on Monday. Rwanda has a tough but not insurmountable task ahead after falling prey to Ivory Coast in their opening qualifier. Amavubi suffered a 3-0 defeat and desperately need a result against Benin to put their qualification hopes back on track.
