Tigo Rwanda has said the company is trying out all innovations to reach all segmenets of mobile phone users across Rwanda.
The company’s Chief Executive Office Aleman Marcelo told reporters on Wednesday while handing over the Rwf12 million prize money, to the overall winner of the ‘Official Sponsor of your Passion’ at Tigo Tower at Muhima.
As a company we try new things. We have invested a lot and set up a sophisticated network and state of art technology including electronic topping up of airtime. We now introduced ‘Tira Tigo’ another product which caters for a consumer’s needs. You use your credit today and pay tomorrow,” Marcelo said.
”People say we focus on the bottom of the pyramid. But yes we focus on all segments of consumers. We are focusing on all Rwandans we don’t discriminate and that is why we are innovative,” he added.
Kanyoro, a Kenyan national, working and residing in Rwanda as a Principal Consultant of Wise Consult & Associates was drawn as the lucky winner of the Tigo prize money.
The draw was carried out on Tuesday in Contact FM studios. Mr. Kanyoro is the overall winner of the Tigo ‘Official Sponsor of Your Passion’ promotion that has been running for months.
Kanyoro, the overall winner of the Tigo prize money, was handed his prize money on Thursday at Tigo Tower, Muhima. Clare Akamanzi, the Chief Operations Officer of RDB attended as the guest of honour.
Akamanzi said that the amount of money that Tigo Rwanda had invested in Rwanda and the jobs created makes the company significant to the economy. "It is important that Tigo keeps this kind of relationship with its clients,” Akamanzi said.
‘The Official Sponsor Of your Passion’ campaign is a promotion that started on the 1st June 2010, celebrating the average Rwandan passion and open to all Tigo subscribers who purchased airtime worth Rwf500 and above.
Unfortunately, after trying to reach this subscriber for over 35 days, Tigo decided to do a new raffle in order to award the final prize to someone else.
According to Rwanda Utility and Regulatory Agency (RURA), Tigo is the second most subscribed mobile telecom company in Rwanda with over 500, 000 mobile users spread across the country.
