The International Office of Migration (IOM) announced yesterday that it is set to support reintegration of Rwandan returnees.

According to the same statement, IOM and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs launched a project called "Enhancement of socioeconomic reintegration opportunities for Rwandan returned refugees and other vulnerable groups.’

"The project supports vulnerable groups in Rwanda’s Southern and Western Provinces, sharing key findings from a rapid needs and capacity assessment, on reintegration opportunities for returning refugees,” reads part of the IOM release.

It includes a profiling exercise comprising identification of human resources, skills training needs and assessment of existing capacity, as well as development of an implementation strategy in line with the priorities set out by the Government.

The project seeks to strengthen Government capacity in managing returnee data collection and analysis as well as the capacity of local training institutions to provide marketable skills training.
