Editor, In response to the article titled “Government mulls driving on the left”, it is my understanding that Rwanda is one of the two East Africa countries driving on the right. I found the article a bit worrying. My concern is that, if Rwanda is to switch to Right Hand Drive vehicles, Kigali City roads will be flocked with a lot of cars from Japan and else where, thus creating traffic jams and road accidents.

In response to the article titled "Government mulls driving on the left”, it is my understanding that Rwanda is one of the two East Africa countries driving on the right. I found the article a bit worrying. My concern is that, if Rwanda is to switch to Right Hand Drive vehicles, Kigali City roads will be flocked with a lot of cars from Japan and else where, thus creating traffic jams and road accidents.
I understand that there is a shortage of mini buses in the Country due to high costs of Left Hand Drive vehicles but at the same time we want the local population to travel in safe and reliable mini-vans while they go about their daily activities. I argue that the Cabinet should veto this change and save us hours of sitting in traffic jams and what not.
