KIGALI - AFRICAN Heads of State yesterday began to arrive ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of President Paul Kagame which is slated for Monday. The first President to arrive, at 16:20 pm, was Francois Bozize from the Central African Republic followed by Togo’s Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe and Benin’s Yayi Boni.
KIGALI - AFRICAN Heads of State yesterday began to arrive ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of President Paul Kagame which is slated for Monday.
The first President to arrive, at 16:20 pm, was Francois Bozize from the Central African Republic followed by Togo’s Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe and Benin’s Yayi Boni.
All the three African leaders were received by Prime Minister Bernard Makuza together with several government ministers.
Other delegates who arrived include Prime Ministers Prof. Apollo Nsibambi and Barnabas S. Dlamini of the Republic of Uganda and the Kingdom of Swaziland, respectively. Algeria’s Senate President, Abdelkadir Bensalah, also arrived yesterday.
More Presidents and other high-profile delegates from other countries and organizations are expected to arrive today.
Also expected are all the 21 members of the Presidential Advisory Council made up of top global business executives and academics.
Other top delegates expected to attend include the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Jean Ping, as well as a representative from the World Bank.
