AS Kigali have completed the transfer of Nigerian winger Jibrine Abubakar Akuki. He joins the league leaders from Mukura Victory on a two-year deal on an undisclosed fee.
Jibrine, who signed the contract on Thursday, January 19, begins a new chapter with the City of Kigali-powered club after a stellar performance in the first round of Rwanda Premier League with Mukura where he scored three goals and provided four assists for the Huye-based club.
AS Kigali announced the signing on their Twitter handle.
"Welcoming our new signing! Abubakar Jibrine Akuki inks a two-years deal with AS Kigali," reads the club&039;s Twitter statement.
After completing the move, the Nigerian told Weekend Sport after that his main objective this season is to help AS Kigali win two trophies.
"I want to propel AS Kigali to win the league title and also retain the Peace Cup trophy. AS Kigali is a great club and I am happy to be here," he said.
In Jibrine, AS Kigal believe they have got a perfect replacement for their skipper Haruna Niyonzima who was unveiled at Libyan side Al Ta'awn on Thursday.
With the signing, the club is now hoping to finally clinch the Premier League title for the first time in their history.
Muniru to Etincelles, a done deal!
The Ghanaian striker on Friday signed for Etincelles FC on a two-year deal.
Muniru, who was a free agent, returns to Rwanda after spending the past five months in Ghana after mutually terminating his contract with Bugesera FC.
His arrival to the Rubavu-based club means the club could now sell Moro Sumaila who was linked with a move to AS Kigali and Rayon Sports.
Muniru first arrived in Rwanda in 2019 where he had a short spell with Rayon Sports before moving to Mukura Victory and later Bugesera FC. With the latter, he scored 12 goals in all competitions.
