NATIONAL league champions APR have written to the local basketball federation (Ferwaba) asking for a rematch with league debutants KBC. The indomitable lions, who were edged by a resilient KBC side (56-55) on Saturday, have blamed the defeat on poor umpiring.
"The officiating left a lot to be desired. There were so many unfair calls against us. The most obvious one was a three pointer from one of my players which was cancelled. Then in the final seconds, there was a back court error that was not called,” APR coach Cliff Owuor groaned.
The result reinstated KBC at the top of the league table with 26 points, one clear of APR, who are chasing for an unprecedented third successive league title.
According to Ferwaba’s head Eric Kalisa, the executive committee will meet this Thursday to look into the issue.
