Free agent Gerald Gohou is looking for a new club following his release by Kazakhstan Premier League side Aktobe FC after one year together.
The striker is without a club after Aktobe released him on Monday, January 16, among four other foreign players as the club looks to build a team around young players.
Asked about his future, the player told Weekend Sport that he and his agent will consider any team which table a reasonable offer.
"I parted ways with Aktobe mutually after we came to a consensus. I am focused on a fresh challenge. I am waiting for any club which will bring a good offer," he said in an interview on Thursday.
Gohou scored eight goals and provided five assists in 21 league games for Aktobe, making him the club's top scorer and top assists provider so far this season, casting questions as to why the club released him.
However, Weekend Sport understands that the club’s decision to part ways with him was not based on performance but because they wanted to bring in much younger players with talent that can be exported in the next few years.
Besides the Ivorian, the club also released Joachim Adukor, 30, a Ghanaian who has naturalized for Liberia, 31-year-old Russian midfielder Ruslan Kambalov and Serbian goalkeeper Sasa Stamenkovic who is aged 36.
Born in Gagnoa, Ivory Coast, Gohou switched allegiance from Cote D'Ivoire to play for Rwanda in September 2022 and scored in his second game for the Amavubi in a friendly against Sudan in Kigali on November 19.
At club level, he previously featured for Xamax in Switzerland, Kairat Almaty, Kasimpasa in Turkey, Beijing Enterprise in China, Krasnodar in Russia and a host of other teams.
He is one of the highest scoring foreign players in the history of the Kazakhstan topflight league with 77 goals and 20 assists in 105 games.
