There was drama, yesterday in Kacyiru, at Source Petrol Station after an 8-month pregnant woman stoned and seriously injured a man believed to be mentally unstable.

According to eye witnesses, Sandrine Abijuru, 32 hit the head of the man identified as Callixte Shabani, with a huge stone leaving him with a big gash on his head.

The unapologetic Abijuru alleged that Shabani had stolen a suitcase containing her belongings but residents accused her of being violent towards a man known to be peaceful.  Shabani frequents the Kacyiru area collecting plastic and metallic waste from trash cans.

By the time police arrived, enraged residents had surrounded Abijuru throwing insults at her for what they called inhumane behaviour. She was whisked away by police while Shabani lay in a pool of blood.
