Botched is the word I should use to summarise the type of drama that ensued at Planet Club on Saturday night.

A massive crowd that gathered at Planet Club, KBC was left disappointed, after Uganda’s ‘Stamina’ singer, Eddie Kenzo and his crew, Big Talent Entertainment, refused to perform.

It is understood that the singer had misunderstandings with George Agaba, the organiser of the concert.  For hours, Agaba and the technicians were up and down, trying to negotiate with Kenzo, riling the crowd.

‘I usually don’t go for concerts, but this time I was up for it, only to be told that the star wouldn’t make it because of the misunderstandings,” whined Sylvia Umuhoza. 

Agaba, the owner of Drona Entertainment Group - the company that had contracted Kenzo is accusing him for hiking up the fee at the last minute.

"He was influenced by his friends to double the fee after noticing that the turn-up was huge,” Agaba said. "Initially we had agreed on $500, but while at the venue, Kenzo demanded for $1,000.”

But, in interview, the singer dismissed the allegations that he wanted more money.

"We had agreed that he would pay me before the performance, but when I asked him for the money, he wanted surrender his mobile phone,” Kenzo said.

"He wanted to take me for granted. I refused to perform because I wasn’t sure whether he would pay. Beside, his phone isn’t worth the price,” he added.

Meanwhile, it is not the first time such a thing has happened. Recently, during Sgt. Robert’s concert album launch, Uganda’s famous artists Cindy and Rabadaba also disappointed their enthusiastic fans at the last minute due to the same reason.
