Olive Akobasinga dominated headlines after sweeping gold in 100m, 200m and 400m, Hermas Muvunyi claimed two golds (100m and 400m) and silver in 800m, Jean Claude Ndayisenga won gold in 200m and two silver medals in 100m and 400m while Alphonsine Mukandayisenga picked two silver medals in 100m and 200m.
Theoneste Nsengimana, Leopold Nsengimana and Jean de Dieu Nkundabera finished out side the medal bracket.
According to the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Secretary General Celestin Nzeyimana, Rwanda’s target is to field at least five track athletes, three power lifters and a sitting volleyball team at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
