Today (Warm-up)
Amavubi vs SC Kiyovu
SELLAS Tetteh is set to take a gamble on his two summoned professionals Saddou Boubakary (centre-back) and Louis Aniweta (defensive midfielder) after it was confirmed that the pair would only link up with the rest of the team in Abidjan, the venue for Amavubi’s opening 2010 Nations Cup Group H qualifier against Ivory Coast.
Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa yesterday revealed that the pair which plays in Oman and Cyprus would fly straight to Abidjan for the tricky tie slated for this Saturday.
Kalisa was however quick to dismiss any doubts about the players’ fitness and ability to gel with the rest of the team in two days.
"We have been closely monitoring them and have no doubts about their form and physical shape,” the official noted.
Meanwhile, Rayon Sport left back defender Abuba Sibomana, who was drafted into the team as a replacement for Kalisa Mao, is a doubt for the qualifier.
Sibomana bruised his hip last week forcing Tetteh to leave him out of Thursday’s build-up game against Primus league side Police, which ended in a 2-all draw.
The Ghanaian will have another look at his wasps when they play Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s SC Kiyovu this morning at Ferwafa.
After today’s game, Tetteh will have a good stand to name his final 18-man team. The team departs this Thursday, two days before battling the Elephants, who will be without their lethal striker Didier Drogba.
To qualify for the tournament which will be jointly hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, Rwanda needs to top the group or at least finish among the best three qualifiers.
