DREW Cares International (DCI), an American NGO, has donated three motorcycles, an assortment of equipment comprised of computers, printers, television sets, stabilisers and a generator to Ngarama and Kaduha Military Hospitals.

The cost of the equipment which was handed over at the organisation’s headquarters in Kacyiru, is estimated at $99,000.

Speaking at the ceremony, DCI’s country director, Ahmed Abajobir, said the support is geared at boosting military hospitals in providing health services to soldiers and the local population.

"The equipment will be used in providing capacity building support to Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) hospitals and in Anti- AIDS clubs to support the prevalence of HIV among the soldiers and local communities,” he said.

"We are committed to provide more support to military hospitals, clinics, and anti-AIDS clubs in the country,” he noted.

Receiving the donation, the RDF Director of Medical Services, Dr. Charles Murego, hailed the NGO for their continued support in fighting AIDS in the military. 

"Drew Cares International has been RDF’s partner in efforts to eradicate the spread of HIV/AIDS since 2006,” said Murego

DCI, which is an affiliate of Charles Drew University, is mandated by the US Department of Defence to support health services in the RDF.
