This is in response to an article published on 11th January, about orphans and widows fighting poverty through co-operatives.

Co-operatives have played a major role in development around the world and it’s no surprise that Rwanda is taking on this trend.

Orphans and widows are the most fragile citizens any country can have. Orphans are tomorrow’s leaders, thus they need knowledge on self-help projects.

This equips them with the knowledge of taking care of themselves, other than waiting for the government to take care of their everyday needs.

Self-help projects also increase interaction between people. In the case of a place like Rwamagana, interaction can increase peace, unity and reconciliation as people work together.

This will not only improve the day to day life of the people, but also make them knowledgeable.
