HUYE - The Mayor of Huye District, Francois Uhagaze, has commended religious leaders for dedicating prayers to the nation and fostering unity and peace.

The Mayor made the remarks last weekend at Huye district multipurpose hall during a concert organised by Illumination Choir, a Catholic church choir at National University of Rwanda’s Parish "Saint Dominique.”

He noted that peace and unity would take root if both authorities and religious leaders joined  hands together to fight against any form of divisionism among Rwandans.

"This gathering is a reflection that our performance goals will be successfully achieved since religious and other local leaders are willing to build our country in peace and unity,” said Uhagaze.

Hundreds of people who turned up for the concert said that messages carried in the songs served to unite the society.
"The message channelled through music is good because music attracts many people,” said Eng Alphonse Bimenyimana, from Kigali.

Benjamin Mushimiyimana, a local artist of both gospel and secular music and member of Illumination choir told The New Times that the concert was intended to rally people to focus on work and peace building.

Father Innocent Nshimiyimana, a clergy with  the University’s parish ‘Saint Dominic” encouraged members to foster peace and  unity in their families.
