We should try mediation instead of litigation

Editor,

I’m not surprised to find out that the Kigali Chambers of the High Court is struggling under the weight of ‘unnecessary lawsuits’, to quote the President of the High Court, Johnston Busigye.

This is probably because there aren’t enough ways to resolve disputes without actually going to court. I’m of the view that mediation is the way forward. It is less expensive, faster and both parties are involved in choosing who will mediate the dispute.

Instead of suing each other so much, maybe its time mediation became a way of doing business.
