Kicukiro District is set to give out 92 houses to vulnerable families, who include Genocide survivors.

The three-bed room houses with a sitting room, kitchen, small store and a toilet have been constructed in two sites in Masaka: Rusororo and Gahanga sectors.

Built at a cost of about Rwf 8.5 m each, they are able to accommodate a family of about 5 to 6 people, the district Mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage said.

"By August 27, these houses will have been given out to their respective owners in the 10 sectors of the district,” Ndamage said.

He added that the population will be actively involved in identifying the right beneficiaries.

"The District started the project from its 2009-2010 budget but personal efforts and contributions from President Paul Kagame have made it successful,” he noted.

Ndamage also commended the annual activities during the Army Week saying "The Army provided manpower for the construction of ten houses.”

The Mayor said the two sites will also have access to piped water.
