MT Kenya University on Friday graduated about 1,400 students in various disciplines. Among the fresh graduates were 39 Rwandans who were awarded degrees in Business Information Technology (BBIT)

The ceremony was officiated by Kenya’s Vice President, Kalonzo Musyoka, and the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology, William Ruto.

Didace Ndoli, one of the graduates, said it was a special day which he believes will make a major difference in his life.

"It has not been easy, but what is important today is the step we have been able to achieve that will enable our contribution towards national development,” Ndoli said in a telephone interview from Kenya yesterday.

The students undertook the BBIT course at Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC) through a partnership the institute has with Mt Kenya University.

Meanwhile, Mt Kenya University used the ceremony to honour the Legal Representative and Founder of RTUC, Madam Zulfat Mukarubega, by awarding her an honorary Doctorate in Education.
