RWANDA beat Yemen 1-0 to cruise to the semi finals of the ongoing Cecafa Under-20 football tournament in Asmara, Eritrea on Friday night.

Faustin Usegimana scored the junior wasps’ lone goal in the 61st minute. ichard Tardy’s youthful side were boosted by a 3-1 thrashing of Zanzibar by Uganda’s Hippos in the evening’s other match. Rwanda joins Uganda in the last four from group B.

Rwanda’s French coach Tardy said he was surprised that his U-17 development side has reached this far in a tournament meant for U-20 teams.

"They are growing in confidence with every match and it looks like we are on the right course to achieving our target,” he said.

The semi-finals are set to start on Tuesday.
