KIGALI - Upon his re-election as the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame has received congratulatory messages from various Heads of State and organizations, citing his steadfast and visionary leadership as a model for other nations especially in African.

In his message, Singaporean President, S. R. Nathan, commended the special relationship that both countries share, marked by common ideas and close cooperation through development projects.

"Your re-election signals a strong mandate from the people of Rwanda for your visionary policies that have contributed to the country’s economic success and peaceful development.” the Singaporean leader states.

Tanzanian President, Jakaya Kikwete, expressed his satisfaction for the excellent bilateral relationship that the Tanzanian administration and people enjoy with Rwanda.

"I reiterate my personal commitment to continue working closely with your government to further promote the bonds of friendship between our nations and the prosperity our peoples,” a statement from the Tanzanian President reads.

Another head of State to congratulate Kagame for winning the August 9 polls is Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who said that the second seven-year mandate entrusted to Kagame would ensure further consolidation of the existing relations between the two countries.

The Secretary General of the East African Community, Juma V. Mwapachu, commended Kagame for restoring the dignity of Rwanda and helping its citizenry to put the traumatic past behind them.

"The peaceful elections have reinforced the foundations on which the modern Rwanda nation is anchored and underpinned by the rule of law, national cohesion and commitment to a progressive democratic order of the society,” Mwapachu states.

Meanwhile, Donald Kaberuka, the President of Africa Development Bank, described Kagame’s victory as a "resounding and deserved renewal of confidence by the Rwandan people.”

"The country’s socio-economic and political transformation has put the nation on a truly exemplary trajectory recognized and admired by the international community,” Kaberuka’s statement reads in part.
