NYAGATARE –The benefactors of Musenyi Community Centre in Karangazi Sector, Nyagatare District have announced plans to expand the centre.

Two British nationals, Jacqueline Turner (of Rwandan origin) and Malcolm Clear, revealed this after their visit to the centre yesterday.

They said that the purpose of their visit was to assess the progress the centre had made since its establishment two months ago and see how the expansion can be carried out.

The centre known as ‘A New Beginning’ is a complex that offers health, education and sports services among others.

During the visit, Clear, who is in the construction industry, said that the number of residents getting services from the centre has been growing since its launch, hence prompting them to think of expanding.

"Look, we have got to get enough space for the growing population and equipment…so, we are here for the purpose of doing such things, as quickly as we can,” he said.

Clear said that the Community Centre should be able to sustain itself in the near future.

"We shall continue handling the improvement of infrastructure, and allow small details, to be handled by the centre and its people”.

Jacqueline Turner said that their group is leaving no stone unturned, to make the centre deliver to its maximum.

She revealed that in November a big group of British sponsors will gather in Musenyi for a mega fundraising to help in the expansion.

"We want this centre to be a model one, so that NGOs and the like, emulate such rural investment that helps the most vulnerable. We have enough land for expansion and we will utilize it, for the good of the community,” she said.

Meanwhile, Yohana Kamurasi, a resident of Musenyi village who had come for treatment at the centre, told The New Times, that the initiative has solved fundamental problems that they were facing.
