KIGALI - The Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) yesterday received office equipment and electronic gadgets, worth Frw60 million  The donation was handed by the Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Sun Shuzhong to the RPF Secretary General Francois Ngarambe at the party headquarters in Kimihurura yesterday. "The donation was promised to us by a senior leader of the Chinese Communist Party when he visited the country a year ago and we are happy to receive it because it will make our operations easier,” Ngarambe said after receiving the equipment.

The package includes computers (desktops and laptops) with accessories, stereo equipment, digital video and photo cameras and sound equipments among others.

He remarked that the donation is proof of how the two parties are enjoying mutual friendship and will continue working for good of the populations of both countries.
Like the RPF in Rwanda, the communist party is the ruling party in China. 

Meanwhile the Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Sun Shuzhong has reiterated his country’s strong will to expand economic and trade ties with Africa.

Shuzhong made the remarks during a banquet hosted in honour of visiting vice mayor of China’s city of Shenzhen, Zhuo Qinrui at Hotel Novotel, Umubano on Monday. 

"China’s relationship with Africa is the cornerstone of China’s foreign policy, and to consolidate and expand its friendship is a long term strategy pursued by China,” he said
He said that China would help Africa to get the maximize out of its resources by encouraging more Chinese companies to invest in Africa, as well as participating in infrastructure building and agricultural development.

Shuzhong attributed his country’s cooperation with Africa to the fact that China is the largest developing country while Africa is home to the largest number of developing countries. 

He promised to work for strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between China and Rwanda in all fields.  

The envoy noted that thirty years ago the Chinese embarked on the historic reform programme that has registered phenomenal progress through unremitting efforts.    

However, Shuzhong said that China still faces problems of a big population, weak economic foundation, uneven regional development and a per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that ranks after the 100th place in the world. He said that China’s target now was to quadruple its GDP to reach US$4 trillion and 3,000 per capita.  Between 1978 and 2006, China’s GDP grew from $147.3 billion to 2.94 trillion dollars while its foreign exchange reserve soared from $167 million to 1 trillion.
