KIGALI - Despite conceding that Kiyovu is a much stronger side than last season, Rayon Sport coach Emmanuel Ruremesha has taunted the Nyamirambo side ahead of today’s Primus Cup final claiming that Kiyovu had an easy ride to the final after playing a below par APR team.

While Rayon feasted on a ragged Marines’ side (4-0) in the first semi-final, Kiyovu had center back Marcel Lomami to thank as his 45th minute header gifted the old giants a hard fought 1-0 win over the army side, which had fielded several fringe players.

With the two old adversaries renewing their rivalry at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium this afternoon, Ruremesha has struck the first blow telling Times Sport that his players have nothing to fear.

"I have no reason to panic because they (Kiyovu) ejected a very weak APR team; (APR were missing seven first team players; Abbas Rassou (striker), Didier Kapet (defender), Didier Logbo (midfielder), Dady Chimanga (defender), Mbuyu Twite (defender), Kabange Twite (right back) and Kalisa Mao (midfielder).”

"Of course they look much stronger now. They have brought in players with good experience and technical ability but we are equally a good team and have the right blend of youth and experience to win the final,” Ruremesha who is yet to sign a permanent contract with the Blues said.

Kiyovu coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira has however laughed off Ruremesha’s insinuation.

"We played the same APR team two weeks ago in the ‘United we stand’ tournament and we lost 3-1, so how can he say that it is a weak team,” he wondered.

"The fact is that we went back to the drawing board and corrected our mistakes. That is why we are in the final,” Ntagwabira, who has also coached APR, Atraco, AS Kigali and Amavubi in the past said.

Regardless of the outcome in the final, both sides will pocket Rwf5m while the third and fourth teams will walk away with a consolation Rwf3m respectively.
