Ferwafa to summon pros for Ivory Coast clash

THE local football body, Ferwafa has confirmed it will summon its foreign based players for Rwanda’s opening 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast in Yamoussoukro on September 4.

This was confirmed by the body’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa during a brief interview yesterday.

"We are not sure about the number but we shall definitely need their experience in this game. I will meet with the national team (Amavubi)’s technical staff soon to decide on who we need for this crucial game,” Kalisa said.

Amavubi’s head coach Sellas Tetteh supplemented on Kalisa’s remarks saying, "Professionals are part of our plans for the Ivory Coast game.”

Training for the national team will resume on Monday, two days after the Primus Cup final which is set for this Saturday.

Some of the professionals Rwanda is expected to bank on include former Amavubi captain Olivier Karekezi (Osters), Hamad Ndikumana, Lens midfielder Monnet-Paquet Kevin, Bobo Bola (Atlantis FC), Edwin Ouon (AEL Limassol), Boubakary Sadou (Ahly Tripoli), Patrick Mafisango (Azam), Aloua Gaseruka (El Merreikh), Saidi Makasi (Difaa El Jadida), Henri Munyaneza (Germinal Bierschot), Lukman Imoro (AEP Paphos) and Louis Aniweta (Nea Salamina Famagusta).

The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations will be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
