A delegation of Canadian physicians currently on the study tour of the country has offered to train lecturers of Kigali Health Institute.

Speaking during their visit to the institute yesterday, the head of the delegation, Dr Karl Stobbe, revealed that they are in the country to assess the needs of the institute and its impact on the population.

"We are here to see how we can help train the institute’s personnel and assess the difficulties that they face at KHI and the current trends in health care in Rwanda” Stobbe said.

Addressing the delegation that includes thirteen medics, KHI’s Rector, Dr. Desire Ndushabandi, said that KHI has trained several health personnel in various fields and was also reaching out to the population through services offered by the institute.

Speaking to The New Times, Dr Stobbe said that his delegation has been impressed by the institute’s progress and revealed that they will partner with KHI in order to help the institution strengthen its training services and outreach programs.

He revealed that they will train the lecturers in the fields of Mental Health, Medical Imaging, Biomedical Laboratory, among others.
