RWANDA National Police (RNP) strongly refutes the misleading reports published by Rwanda News Agency and on Africa news websites indicating that the grenade attack on civilians which occurred in Kigali on August 12, 2010 killed six people.

The national police once again would like to make this clear that the incident which occurred at a busy commuter terminal, commonly known as Kwa Rubangura at Nyamirambo stage seriously injured seven people who were admitted at CHUK where now two people have lost their lives.

The other five are now in a stable state and will be discharged any time. A total of five have lost their lives since the beginning of this year and not 15 people as mentioned on the Africa news, and the Rwandan Police spokesman is not a quartermaster as stressed in the same newspaper.

Reporters who seek to publish news concerning Rwanda Police should always make it a point to consult the Police for the first hand information and the necessary details.

In relation to this, the Rwanda National Police would like to make the necessary corrections in the news reported by Rwanda news agency and Africa news websites.

Although the Rwandan national Police regrets the loss of two innocent citizen lives in criminal activities, the situation has been normal and the business conducted as usual contrary to the statements made by the two newspapers.

Again the author on the Africa news website misfired by reporting results of the concluded presidential elections results in Rwanda where he said that President, Paul Kagame won on 95.6% yet the official result according to the National Electoral Commission was 93.08%.

RNP is disappointed with such media houses which act unprofessionally.
