GASABO - The Indian community in Rwanda, under their umbrella association, the Indian Association of Rwanda (INAR), yesterday, marked the 64th India Independence day and as well as, celebrated President Paul Kagame’s elections victory

India’s Independence Day falls on August 15.

Speaking on the occasion, Raj Ranganathan Munyaneza the Chairman of INAR who is also the Managing Director of UTEXRWA S.A, commended the good relationship between Rwanda and India.

He said that there is unity and reconciliation in Rwanda and this success is rooted in a unifying vision, a commitment and tirelessness from the people to transform their society under their visionary leader, President Kagame.

"As we celebrate our independence day with great joy we should also celebrate the victory of Paul Kagame for winning the recently concluded elections,” he said.

"On this occasion I would like to congratulate the people of Rwanda for holding peaceful elections and Paul Kagame for winning the elections”.

Ranganathan added that, INAR provides a common identity to the Indian community in Rwanda through promotion of unity, friendship and good will based on mutual understanding and cooperation.

He explained that through their association, they will be facilitating Rwandan Citizens who wish to go to India.
According to Srinath Vardhineni the General Secretary of INAR, they are committed to promoting social, educational and cultural programmes between the Indians and the Rwandan community.

"We have been celebrating our country’s independence day but this is very special occasion because we are celebrating Paul Kagame’s victory and, as well, inaugurating our association,” he stressed.

Dinesh Kalyan the Vice chairman of the INAR said that, he was very pleased with President Kagame victory saying that he deserved it because he has done a lot for the government of Rwanda.

The event brought together over 500 Indians living in Rwanda, members from the business community, and members from the diplomatic corps.
