It is apparent, that just after the peaceful and well organized presidential elections, some people are bent on tarnishing the image of the country and causing mayhem. And terrorism is one among the many methods they seek to employ. This is clearly aimed at scaling back the democratic gains that Rwandan people have made, over the years.

The resilience of Rwandans to shrug off such barbaric acts and continue with their daily lives must be commended. It goes without saying that this resilience is borne out of the confidence that Rwandans have in their security organs, leadership and their own determination to forge ahead and build a better future.

The new security measures taken by the police and other relevant organs are commendable and should be another reassurance, that such acts of terrorism are not sustainable in the country. The terrorists and their sponsors’ agenda will hit a dead end, the same way others with similar objectives have ended up in the past.

It is important that all citizens remain vigilant as ever, and report any suspicious characters in their neighbourhoods. As Rwandans demonstrated in the just concluded elections, they have the ability to reject such criminals and denounce their evil intentions.
