The likes of Gisagara, Rusizi and Gasabo were on fire as the Sitting Volleyball Championship resumed over the weekend in Huye District, Southern Province.
The trio was so dominant that they enjoyed an impressive winning run during the phase two of the championship held at University of Rwanda, Huye Campus.
The two-day tournament attracted 28 teams, of which 17 are men&039;s teams while 11 teams are women’s.
Gasabo men’s team finished the tournament unbeaten as they beat each of Nyamasheke, Burera, Rwamagana, Muhanga and Kicukiro 2-0 sets while they overcame Musanze with a narrow 2-1 victory.
Rusizi also proved to be every opponent’s misery over the weekend as they on Saturday beat Karongi, Kicukiro, Rwamagana and Muhanga 2-0 sets each before adding two more victories over Ngoma and Rutsiro, beating them 2-0 sets each.
Another team and finished phase two undefeated is Gisagara who won all their five games, beating Gatsibo, Ngoma, Nyamasheke, Burera and Ruhango 2-0 sets each.
Meanwhile, Musanze and Bugesera dominated the women’s championship with the former winning all their four fixtures against Ruhango, Rubavu, Gicumbi and Nyanza while Bugesera put up a successful performance with wins against Rubavu, Nyarugenge, Ruhango and Gakenke to finish the phase unbeaten as well.
The next phase will take place in Gicumbi from March 11-12 after which overall best performing teams from each category will qualify for the playoffs that will decide the champions during the final and decisive phase slated for May 6-7 in Gisagara District, Southern Province.
