NYAMASHEKE - The Director of Bweyeye Health Centre, Nyamasheke District, Oscar Bayihorere, has appealed to the Ministry of Health to facilitate more sensitisation campaigns on proper feeding so as to check nutritional diseases that have been reported in the area.

"Most of the health problems we attend to among children are related to poor feeding habits like kwashiorkor. There are also cases of adults who are affected due to lack of balanced diet,” said Bayihorere.

He was speaking at the closing of a Ministry of Health organised workshop on nutritional diseases. The training was attended by health workers.

Justin Ntaganda, a representative from the Ministry of Health, said the training was meant to increase knowledge of participants about diseases caused by deficiency in body nutrients.

Meanwhile, the participants launched a health program to promote proper feeding among residents, with a call on authorities to play significant roles in sensitising residents.

Claver Nsengiyumva, the Executive Secretary of Bweyeye Sector, noted that poor feeding is mainly attributed to lack of information about the different values people get from different foodstuffs.
