Last summer, German power house Bayern Munich made one of the greatest signing in their football history by recruitment of talented Dutchman, Arjen Robben. The potential of Robben is incredibly high.

His biggest problem in his career has been his injury proneness. Perhaps being a one footed man also exposes his feet to eagles ‘hungry and angry defenders’. His tricky dribbles make him hated by many stoppers.

This partly explains why Robben has had difficulty with playing a lot of matches in a row without getting injured. Injuries often deny him chance to shine regularly and perhaps become a player of world class category.

The tricky winger will have to learn how to use both legs so as to dodge many opponents and prevent injuries as well. He has often suffered horrible injuries and the fact that he only uses his left foot makes him easily tackled by opponents.

With Bundesliga season set to start next weekend, the Dutch master is set to miss first two months of the season.
His current injury concern has already created tension between Bayern and the Netherlands football federation.

The German champions accuse the Dutch soccer authority for not being keen enough to prevent the nagging injury of their star player.

While national teams are respected, the Dutch medics did little to detect his injury. He was urgently need by the Dutch team to progress at world cup and his presence felt and made instant impact for his team.

Robben worked a lot for Bayern qualification to the final game of the last year’s Europe Champion’s League. He was the man behind the slaughter of Manchester United and Olympic Lyon to qualify from the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.

He went a head to lead the Netherlands to the final of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. With such massive overload of games, there is no doubt that Robben could suffer from a muscle injury.

He is a classic winger with very good left foot and good at curling balls. He is able to dribble past many opponents in a row and drive defences to his own direction. With such qualities, there is no single full-back in the world who wants to have him as his direct opponent.

He also possesses a good shooting ability. His thunderous strike against Manchester united in Old Trafford was an alarming sign of his superiority in the modern soccer era.

However, in some circumstances he has been criticized for selfishness at moments where he should pass the ball to a team mate to create a dangerous situation and instead takes his own way.

The 27-year-old was the driving force behind Bayern’s rise up in the Bundesliga and was his club’s over all top scorer last season.

At Real Madrid he performed well in nearly enough for a full season and did so in impressive style, but the new Galactico project meant there was no room for him. It is somewhat unfortunate for him that he has been shuffled around so many clubs, but Bayern seem able to get the best out of him.

The truth here is that he is incredibly difficult to stop. The closest player to him in style is Lionel Messi of Barcelona. Of course, he is not as imaginative as Messi, but he is definitely one of the best players in the world. His magnificent performance at the 2010 World Cup has already proved this.

He is as good as Ribery for Bayern, he could play for any of the best teams in the world including Barcelona, Manchester United (who wanted him when he chose Chelsea), and even back to Chelsea or Real Madrid.
