Mt Kenya University will on August 20 award the first batch of 37 Rwandan students degrees in Business Information Technology (BBIT) a course the university offers in partnership with Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC).
The students will leave the country on August 17 to the universitys main campus in Kenya where the graduation ceremony is expected to take place.

According to the RTUC Rector, Callixte Kabera, the number of students undertaking the course has increased and about 100 students have been enrolled.

He however expressed concern over how female students have been reluctant to take up the course. 

Among those who will graduate, there are only 13 female students. Girls should also consider technology courses if they are to compete effectively with their male counterparts, Kabera said.

The course has taken one and half years, and the students who took it up had advanced diplomas from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) through NCC--an accreditation scheme in the United States.
