Forty orphans from several parts of Kigali have been sensitized on their rights and ways of fighting HIV/Aids.

Speaking during the workshop at S.O.S Primary School, Kacyiru, Irene Ingabire the chairperson of Amahoro Association which organized the workshop, said that holiday interactive workshops are held to remind participants the dangers of the Aids scourge.

"It is an opportunity for them to socialize,” Ingabire said.
"They need to know that life does not end at the death of their parents and ought to know values that help them live healthy relationships in their respective communities”.

According to Eugene Ndayambaje in charge of education and development, at least 2000 orphans have benefited from health insurance scheme (Mutuelle de Sante) that is covered by the association.

Among the orphans, 147 are in secondary school, 572 in primary and 370 have undergone vocational training.

Since its establishment in 2001, the association has received support from Rwanda NGOs Forum, Norwegian Church Aid, Imbuto Foundation and Unity Club.
