ON Sunday, Natty Dread, the country’s most known and revered performer of reggae music, urged Rwandan Rastafarians to participate in yesterday’s presidential elections. 

Natty’s call came at the time when the mood and spirit for the election was at its climax, as Rwandans eagerly awaited to vote for their favourite candidate.

The ‘Hobe’ singer believes that participating in the elections is one way Rastafarians can exercise their political right, as well as contribute to the future of country.

"Rwanda is a peaceful country,” he said. "Ever since the country started preparing for the campaigns, we have not had any problems.”

Meanwhile, it’s important to mention that this year’s presidential campaigns were carried out more systematically and peacefully—other countries should borrow a leaf from Rwanda’s election experience.
